A super example of a solid silver vintage buckle belt with a lovely scrolling foliate design to the front. The silver has been gilded all over and retains a slight golden sheen, a very pale gold colour. The belt buckle symbolises eternity, loyalty, strength and protection. It represents the binding love between the giver and the wearer, and also a love ever-lasting as the loop has no beginning and no end.
Queen Victoria reportedly caused a surge in the popularity of buckle jewellery when she wore a buckle ring to symbolise her induction into the Order of the Garter.
The bangle has a neat closure mechanism - push the two sides together and lift the buckle to release one end, then push back and secure the buckle against the prong to fix closed.
