Vintage Silver and Gold Square Gemstone Cross Necklace

A shining Byzantine revival cross and chain in sterling silver and 22-carat gold. Beautifully made, the square cross is set with four split pearls around a central blue stone mounted in 22-carat gold - the gem is believed to be tourmaline, though it falls somewhere between the tourmaline and aquamarine readings on our gem tester. Be sure to notice the decorative back, which is almost as pretty as the front!

SIZE: The cross measures 3.3 x 2.8cm, including the bail; the chain is just under 20 inches (42cm).

WEIGHT: 19.2g.

MATERIALS: Sterling silver, 22-carat gold, pearls, tourmaline.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: The back of the cross is stamped with Greek registration codes, as well as 925 for sterling silver and 22K for 22-carat gold. The chain is also stamped 925.

CONDITION: In excellent vintage condition.

ERA: Estimated late 20th-early 21st century.
