A pretty bracelet formed of micromosaic plaques which link together with a simple hook.

Each little mosaic is made up of tiny glass tiles or tesserae. Micromosaic jewellery became popular in Victorian times, during the early to mid-19th century, when it became the thing to do for wealthy people to conduct The Grand Tour - a cultural trip around Europe, collecting souvenirs along the way. Italy was a popular destination for its rich cultural and artistic heritage and its high-quality glass production. Italian workshops became adept at producing micromosaic artworks and jewellery for aristocratic tourists.

SIZE: The bracelet is approximately 18.5cm (7 and a quarter inches) long.

MATERIALS: Metal, glass.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: None.

CONDITION: The bracelet is in very good vintage condition, with just a little tesserae loss (see photos).

ERA: Estimated c.1930s.
