An incredible sterling silver brooch in an exploding sputnik style with a purplish stone at the centre. Stamped GEP, we believe it to be the work of the pioneering English jeweller Gillian Packard (1938-1997), who was known for her radical, sculptural designs. Her pieces can be found in several important public collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Fixes with a simple C clasp, with a safety chain for additional security.
SIZE: Approximately 7 x 3.5cm.
WEIGHT: 10.8g.
MATERIALS: 925 sterling silver. The stone is untested but it has the look of a synthetic colour-changing corundum or Alexandrite.
HALLMARKS/STAMPS: GEP, Sheffield 1981.
CONDITION: Very good vintage condition. We have not overpolished, there is some patina of aging on the silver but you could take it to a higher shine if you prefer.
ERA: 1981.
