A stunning little late Art Deco (1940s) ring with a step-cut pinkish-purple purple stone set into a solid 14-carat gold mount. The shank, prongs and the larger decorative scrolls are yellow gold, while the smaller scrollwork and the shoulders are rose gold - to be honest the eye is tricked into seeing the colour it expects to see!
At the time of listing we have a very similar pendant, which came to us with the ring and is believed to originate from the same maker in Vienna, see photos and separate listing here.
SIZE: H (UK), 3 and three quarters (US).
WEIGHT: 4.1g.
MATERIALS: 14-carat gold, paste amethyst.
HALLMARKS/STAMPS: The ring is stamped 585 (14-carat gold) and OW. Also bears the horsehead hallmark with a letter W which indicates the ring originates from Vienna in Austria.
CONDITION: The ring is in excellent vintage condition, although the stone is abraded on the facets, see photos.
ERA: 1940s.
