A beautiful Victorian 14-carat rosy gold ring with lovely vivid blue and green turquoises and tiny gleaming split pearls. The design is unusual, the ornate wide shoulders have a more European look than the English antique turquoise jewellery we usually see.

Turquoise, in the language of Victorian sentimental jewellery, always represents the forget-me-not flower symbolising true love and loyalty. A romantic symbol used as a constant and powerful reminder of a love lost or perhaps of a sweetheart sent off to fight in the Crimean war.

SIZE: N and a half (UK), 7 (US). The face of the ring measures 1.4 x 0.9cm.

WEIGHT: 2.9g.

MATERIALS: 14-carat (585) gold, turquoise, pearl.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: The ring is indistinctly stamped inside.

CONDITION: Excellent antique condition.

ERA: Victorian (c.1837-1901).
