Round silver drop earrings beautifully engraved with a swooping swallow design typical of the Victorian Aesthetic period (c.1885-1901). In Victorian England a flying swallow was traditionally considered a token of good luck and the bird represented enduring love and loyalty, as the swallow mates for life. These earrings are particularly nice as they have retained their original tops, rather than having modern silver wires.

SIZE: The pendants measure approx 1.5cm across, the total drop from the top of the ear wire is 2.3cm.

WEIGHT: 2.2g. The earrings are hollow so lovely and light to wear.

MATERIALS: 925 sterling silver.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: Stamped STANDARD SILVER.

CONDITION: The earrings are in very good antique condition with a lovely patina; we have not overpolished the silver but it could be taken to a higher shine if required.

ERA: Victorian c.1880-90s.
