Pretty antique drop earrings in nine-carat gold, featuring tiny gold shamrocks and an intricately hand-engraved buckled belt design. To the Victorians the belt buckle symbolised eternity, loyalty, strength and protection. It represents the binding love between the giver and the wearer, and also a love ever-lasting as the loop has no beginning and no end. It was often used on Victorian betrothal and wedding jewellery, as well as in mourning jewellery as a mark of respect, remembrance and enduring love.
