Victorian Gold Pearl Locket Pendant

A 19th century gold pendant with a large faux pearl and lovely Etruscan Revival detail to the front, and a glassed locket panel at the back.

The glass back, which likely originally held a lock of hair, is easily prised out with a fingernail for you to insert your own picture or keepsake behind the glass should you wish.

SIZE: The locket is 2cm diameter, the pearl is 1cm across.

WEIGHT: 3.1g.

MATERIALS: 15-carat gold, simulated pearl, glass.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: None. The metal tests as 15-carat gold.

CONDITION: Very good antique condition; the faux pearl may be a later replacement. Under magnification there are a few scratches at the side of the pearl.

ERA: Victorian (c.1837-1901).
