A fantastic and unusual antique bangle, likely French, with the regal combination of blue enamel and gold (gilded metal), offset by sparkling pastes. The pastes on the main section are particularly nice bright white cushion-cut stones which catch the light beautifully.

The bangle closes with an ingenious spring mechanism in both sides which enables one end to slot neatly and securely inside the other.

SIZE: Approximately 6.5 inches internal circumference. The bangle measures around 4.5cm from the top at the front to the bottom of the drop, which is 1.5cm diameter.

WEIGHT: 32.6g.

MATERIALS: Gilt metal, paste gemstones, enamel.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: None.

CONDITION: Overall the bangle is in good antique condition. There is some enamel loss, mostly on the drop although it is not very noticeable unless looking under magnification, and wear to the gilded surface, see photos. The pastes are in excellent condition, with no losses or chips except a little pitting to the stone in the drop, and the sprung mechanism works as it should.

ERA: Estimated Victorian (c.1837-1901).
