Victorian 15CT Gold Tassel Locket Pendant with Seed Pearls

This is a sumptuous little Victorian pendant which really catches the eye. The foxtail tassels are beautifully slinky and with its luminous seed pearls and bright golden curves the whole piece just looks gorgeous on the skin.

The reverse of the pendant conceals a simple glassed compartment which contains a panel of tightly woven hair, though you could insert your own photograph or tiny keepsake. The back can be lifted off with a fingernail and presses back in to close, it doesn't sit completely flat.

The bow and the golden bridge into which the pearls are set can rotate slightly and are firmly secured underneath with a central stud. Note a couple of tiny impressions to the circular edge.

SIZE: Approximately 4.2 x 2.1cm.

WEIGHT: 6.1g.

MATERIALS: The pendant is unmarked but tests as 15-carat gold. Fifteen-carat gold pieces are not overly common (in the UK only really used between 1854 and 1932) and this fineness was generally used in high quality pieces.
