Vintage 9CT Gold Ametrine Screwback Earrings

These lovely sturdy screw back earrings are set with purple amethysts which on close inspection show traces of ametrine - ametrine is a fascinating gemstone, a naturally occurring type of quartz which is a mixture of purple amethyst and yellow citrine. It is also known as bolivianite (almost all ametrine comes from Bolivia) or trystine. 

SIZE: Each amethyst/ametrine measures approximately 10 x 9mm and the earrings are 1.5cm tall when seen from the front.

WEIGHT: 5.2g. 

MATERIALS: Nine-carat gold, ametrine/amethyst.

CONDITION: In excellent used condition, with fully working screws. 

ERA: Estimated mid-late 20th century.
