This gorgeous pendant showcases a glossy high domed garnet cabochon framed in a double halo of twinkling wine coloured rose-cut Bohemian garnets.

The garnets are set into "garnet gold" - a description used to describe a very low carat gold or gilded base metal typically used in Victorian garnet jewellery. The bail at the top is nine-carat gold, likely added later to convert the piece to a pendant from a larger piece of jewellery.

SIZE: 2.3 x 2.8cm.

WEIGHT: 6.0g.

MATERIALS: Garnet, metal, nine-carat gold.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: None.

CONDITION: The pendant is in very good antique condition. When seen under strong magnification there is a tiny hairline fissure at the bottom of the cabochon which looks as if it has always been there (see photos), the stone is securely set and appears in good sturdy condition.

ERA: Victorian (c.1837-1901).
