Large Regency/Victorian Lady Handpainted Miniature Pendant

A fine antique portrait of a lady in early 19th century dress, painted by hand with a lovely lightness of touch. The portrait is set into a glassed frame which is metal cased in nine-carat rosy gold, with an elegant integral bail at the top. The reverse has a panel of finely woven hair, also behind glass, with the golden monogram AS.

SIZE: Approximately 5.3 x 4.5cm.

WEIGHT: 26.0g. 

MATERIALS: Nine-carat gold-cased metal, glass, hair.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: None found.

CONDITION: The pendant is in very good antique condition with minimal wear. Some specks beneath the glass which could be removed if you want to open it up (we haven't!). There's a slightly sharp edge at the front where the edge of the frame stands proud of the glass (see photo); the monogram side is very smooth so comfortable to wear against the skin.

ERA: Estimated Regency-Victorian (c.1811-1901).
