Victorian 15CT Gold Engine-Turned Locket Pendant

An ornate 19th century pocket watch-style locket pendant, glassed on one side and with a lovely engine-turned back. The glassed side of the locket holds a lock of hair. The top unscrews for you to insert your own picture or keepsake behind the glass should you wish. 

The locket tests as 15-carat gold. Fifteen-carat gold pieces are not overly common (in the UK only really used between 1854 and 1932) and as this fineness was generally used in high quality pieces, it is attractive to collectors.

SIZE: 4.8 x 3.5cm (almost two inches high).

CONDITION: The piece is in excellent antique condition.

ERA: Estimated Victorian (c.1837-1901).
