An incredible large solid silver brooch in dragestil “dragon style” - an architectural and design style which came out of Norway during the Arts and Crafts era (1880s-1910) and was a type of Norse Revival of early Medieval and Viking era motifs. This is a beautifully detailed and crisply defined early piece, with two entwined dragon/serpent beasts. You can find examples which originate later into the 20th century but they are much less fine and often cast in pewter rather than silver.
The brooch is not signed; it's akin to known pieces by master Norwegian jewellers Marius Hammer, Astri Holthe and Henrik Moller, it's certainly the work of a fantastic craftsperson!
