A super Edwardian brooch or lapel pin in solid gold adorned with a very pretty swallow and scrolling flower decoration, all set with tiny gleaming seed pearls.
In Victorian England a flying swallow was traditionally considered a token of good luck and the bird represented enduring love and loyalty, as the swallow mates for life.
Marked 15CT on the reverse. Fifteen-carat gold pieces are not overly common (in the UK only really used between 1854 and 1932) and this fineness was generally used in high quality pieces.
Comes with a removable safety chain and the original antique case pictured.

MATERIALS: 15-carat gold, nine-carat gold pin, pearls.
HALLMARKS/STAMPS: Stamped 15CT.
