A beautiful solid silver brooch in dragestil “dragon style” - an architectural and design style which came out of Norway during the Arts and Crafts era (1880s-1910) and was a type of Norse revival of early Medieval and Viking era motifs.
This is a really nice crisply defined early piece, with a trio of wolf/fox heads and a triangular Celtic knot at the centre. You can find examples which originate later into the 20th century but they are often less well defined and cast in pewter rather than silver.
The brooch is not signed; we've seen this design attributed separately to Marius Hammer and Astri Holthe, it's certainly the work of a fantastic Norwegian jeweller!
