This very pretty antique pendant started out as part of a bigger piece of Georgian jewellery, possibly an earring or a necklace, and has at some time been converted to a very wearable piece which can be hung on a chain or ribbon. The pendant is solid silver, set with beautiful sparkling old foil-backed black dot rock crystals, including some lovely cushion cuts. The Georgians (c.1714-1837) would paint a black dot on the bottom end of paste stones (the culet) to help give an illusion of depth and make them look more like real diamonds as they glittered in the candlelight.

SIZE: 2.5 x 3cm, 3.6cm total length including the bail.

WEIGHT: 5.4g.

MATERIALS: Silver, rock crystal.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS:

CONDITION: In excellent antique condition, with a little wear to the facets and some of the foil. One of the stones looks like a historic replacement, it's an old cut but does not have a black dot.

ERA: Estimated Georgian (c.1714-1837).
