This antique gold ring keeps safe the hair of a loved one beneath a tiny glass plaque framed with a halo of tiny seed pearls (each 1-1.5mm in diameter). The shoulders of the piece are decorated with beautiful scrollwork engraving which is very well preserved and extends halfway around the band.
SIZE: Q and a half (UK), 8.5 (US). The oval face of the ring measures 8 x 10mm and sits quite flat, around 2mm above the finger. The band is 1.5mm at the back - it's a very light and easy ring to wear.
WEIGHT: 1.9g.
MATERIALS: Nine-carat gold, pearls, glass/crystal, hair.
HALLMARKS/STAMPS: There are no [remaining] hallmarks but we guarantee the gold to be minimum nine-carat fineness.
CONDITION: In good antique condition. All the pearls still have a lovely nacre; one is darker than the others with a small centre of pearly white. The surface of the glass/rock crystal has some well-worn pits but no chips or cracks.
ERA: Georgian/Victorian (1714-1901)
