Edwardian Art Deco 15CT Gold Sapphire and Diamond Bar Brooch

A very nice early 20th century bar brooch or lapel pin in solid gold mounted with a blue sapphire and two old-cut accent diamonds. The sapphire is lovely quality, a deep cornflower blue, approximately 0.3CT and believed to be natural, though untested. Secures with a safety pin clasp. 

SIZE: 5 x 1.1cm.

WEIGHT: 2.3g. 

MATERIALS: 15-carat gold, sapphire, diamond.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: Stamped 15C. Fifteen-carat gold pieces are not overly common (in the UK only really used between 1854 and 1932) and as this fineness was generally used in high quality pieces, it is attractive to collectors.

CONDITION: The brooch is in very good antique condition, though would originally have had a safety chain. See photos.
