A very nice quality bar brooch or lapel pin in solid gold and platinum studded with rose-cut diamonds. The bar is mounted with a very pretty little duck in flight, its neck and head picked out in a lovely blue-green enamel complete with yellow beak. Secures with a safety pin fixing with a tiny latch for additional security.
Fifteen-carat gold pieces are not overly common (in the UK only really used between 1854 and 1932) and as this fineness was generally used in high quality pieces, it is attractive to collectors.
SIZE: 5.8cm long, the duck measures approximately 2 x 1.5cm.
WEIGHT: 4.1g.
MATERIALS: 15-carat gold, platinum, enamel, diamonds.
HALLMARKS/STAMPS: Marked 15CT PLATM.
CONDITION: In excellent antique condition.
ERA: Early 20th century (Edwardian-Art Deco).
