A striking statement necklace in solid silver and solid gold, featuring a tetradrachm coin with the Greek goddess Athena and her owl on the reverse.
Tetradrachm silver coins came originally from Ancient Greece c.450BC, each struck by hand, with no two coins identical. We are not coin experts and cannot say whether the necklace contains an original ancient coin or a later version but it certainly looks as though it could be very old.
SIZE: The necklace is approximately 16 and a half inches long, the pendant section measures 2.4cm across.
WEIGHT: 39.7g.
MATERIALS: Silver (grooved beads, coin, coin frame), 18-carat gold (spacer beads, coin bezel), 14-carat gold (clasp).
HALLMARKS/STAMPS: The silver part of the coin frame is stamped SILVER on the back and the gold section is stamped 18K on the front. The clasp (possibly later) is stamped 14.
CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition.
ERA: Estimated late 20th century.
